Pathways to Postsecondary Regional Leadership Summits
Aligning systems through postsecondary partnerships for success
Minnesota’s new economic realities require a relevant approach to the secondary to postsecondary programming and transition for students. In five years, Minnesota will need 70 percent of the workforce to have some form of postsecondary education to compete globally.
The Minnesota Department of Education and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities collaborated to offer these summits in order to deepen our common understandings of newly-enacted legislation and to explore opportunities for new or expanded partnerships between our systems that will better prepare our continuum of learners to be career and college-ready.
Intended Summit Outcomes:
Understand and explain information about newly-enacted legislation related to college and career readiness including “World’s Best Workforce”, required college and career plans for students, aligned assessment systems, targeted interventions for foundational skills, and expansion of early college credit options.
Identify and differentiate among the dual credit/early college credit programming available in our state including Career and Technical Education (CTE), Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) and concurrent enrollment and clarify how credits transfer into the MnSCU system.
Understand regional workforce needs and trends (Department of Employment and Economic Development).
